On March 1, 2025, members of the Sheriff’s Office assisted Suffolk County Police Department detectives with the arrest of a subject in the Village of Brewster who was wanted for a homicide in Central Islip in February. Through investigation, it was learned that the subject was staying at a residence in the village.
At approximately 7:30 pm, Brayan Heredia Escobar, 19 years old, was taken into custody without incident. He was transported back to Suffolk County by the detectives and was charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree.
