WHAT IS THE SAFEME PROGRAM?
The SafeMe Program is a voluntary, police-led registry designed to assist first responders in safely interacting with individuals who may have autism, developmental disabilities, medical needs, dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other conditions that may require specialized assistance during an emergency. It is intended to help provide officers and emergency personnel with critical information that may improve communication, response, and overall safety.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
- Families or caregivers complete a registration form with important information about the individual.
- Participants receive a QR-coded sticker for a home or vehicle.
- In an emergency, first responders can use that information to better assist the individual.
