Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop in Carmel

Sheriff Brian Hess announces the following arrest:

On April 29, 2026, at approximately 9:01 PM, members of the Sheriff’s Office Conditions Unit conducted a traffic stop on Route 6 in the Town of Carmel. During the stop, deputies recovered approximately 75 grams of cocaine. A 32-year-old female from Carmel and a 41-year-old male from Peekskill, NY were taken into custody. The male was also found to be in possession of an electronic stun gun.

Both subjects were charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Narcotic Drug – Intent to Sell)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Narcotic Drug)

The male was additionally charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree

The female was released on her own recognizance with electronic monitoring. The male was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility.

All suspects mentioned in this media release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
