Pawling Man Arrested Following Public Lewdness Investigation in Patterson

Sheriff Brian Hess announces the arrest of Richard S. Davis, 61, of Pawling, New York, following a months-long investigation conducted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation into a public lewdness incident that occurred in the Town of Patterson.

The investigation began on February 21, 2026, after the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a male had exposed himself and engaged in a lewd act while parked in the Acme supermarket parking lot on Route 22. Two occupants of a nearby vehicle reported observing the suspect intentionally exposing himself and masturbating while looking toward their occupied vehicle. One of the witnesses was under the age of 17.

Through extensive investigative efforts, Davis was identified as the suspect.

On June 19, 2026, investigators located Davis in the Town of Southeast and took him into custody without incident.

Davis was charged with:

  • Public Lewdness, a Class B Misdemeanor
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor

Davis was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Patterson Court at a later date.
