Man Arrested for DWI After Crashing Into Home in Philipstown

Sheriff Brian Hess announces the arrest of Zachary Freeman, age 39, of Philipstown, NY, following a motor vehicle crash into a home in the Town of Philipstown.

On March 14, 2026, at approximately 5:56 p.m., members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to Route 9D for a report of a single-vehicle crash into a residence. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Zachary Freeman, had driven off the roadway and struck the home.

During the investigation, deputies determined that Freeman was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Freeman was arrested and transported for processing.

Two individuals were inside the home at the time of the crash; however, no injuries were reported.

Freeman was charged with the following:

  • Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor)
  • Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor)
  • Moved From Lane Unsafely (Traffic Infraction)

Freeman was arraigned in the Town of Philipstown Court and released on his own recognizance
