Sheriff Brian Hess announces the arrest of Alex Mayorga Chimbo, age 35, of Queens, NY, and a 16-year-old male juvenile, in connection with a grand larceny investigation at Home Depot in the Town of Southeast.
On March 19, 2026, at approximately 9:16 p.m., members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Conditions Unit responded to Home Depot for a report of two individuals known to have previously committed larcenies at the store. Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspects exiting the store with stolen merchandise and attempted to make contact with them. Both individuals were advised they were under arrest, at which time they fled on foot.
Following a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were taken into custody. The individuals were found to be in possession of over $4,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
Alex Mayorga Chimbo was charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration. He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.
The 16-year-old male juvenile was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree, Conspiracy in the 5th Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration. He was released to a guardian with a juvenile appearance ticket
