Two Putnam Deputies Complete Statewide Training Program

Sheriff Kevin J. McConville announces that two Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Completed a Statewide Training Program.

Seventy-two deputy sheriffs and civilian staff from Sheriff's offices around the state, including Sergeant Edward Kennedy and Deputy Kevin Osika, attended the New York State Sheriffs' Institute civil school held in April in Albany, New York. This was the first week in a two-week-long training program offered each year by the Sheriffs' Institute.

In mid-May, Kennedy and Osika attended the phase 2 session of the training along with fifty-six others from counties across the state.

All Sheriffs have civil law enforcement functions, including the service of process and enforcement of judgments and other court orders and mandates. The school provides participants with training in the latest advances in civil law enforcement and a forum to discuss current civil law enforcement issues and share best practices.

Classes were taught by instructors from Sheriff's offices across the state who have vast knowledge of civil enforcement procedures. Sheriff's Office Captain Michael Grossi, who has over twenty-seven years of civil experience and expertise, instructed in both sessions.
