Toy Drive 1983

In this week’s #tbt photo, we continue with the sprit of giving and the long tradition of the Sheriff’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive for families in need. You may recall around Thanksgiving, we featured a similar photo of Corporal Charles J. Moore. Well, yes, it’s the same van, but a different cast of characters. That van, Sheriff’s Unit “Seven-Zero-Three” was around for a very long time. If we remember correctly, it was purchased second hand from the New York Telephone Company, painted blue and white and put into service. Later it was painted red and white as you can see here. Left to right- Corporal Terry Lee Ridpath, Corporal Douglas MacCrae, a Sheriff’s Cadet, (If anyone knows his name, please let us know) and Sheriff Raynor Weizenecker, ca. 1983. Happy merry everyone! #pcso #putnamcountyny #putnamhistory #community #lovethatvan
