Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrests of two men and one woman who, on separate occasions were driving in Putnam County while under the influence of alcohol.
On March 10, 2018 at approximately 2:00 a.m., while on patrol in the Town of Southeast, Sergeant William Quick stopped a vehicle after he observed the vehicle fail to maintain the traffic lane and almost strike a snow embankment. Sergeant Quick determined the operator, Michael H. Bernecker, age 27, of North Salem, New York was intoxicated. Mr. Bernecker was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and traffic violations. Mr. Bernecker’s “Blood Alcohol Content” (BAC) was .13%
Mr. Bernecker was released and is due to appear in The Town of Southeast Justice Court on a future date.
On March 17, 2018, at approximately 2:10 a.m., while on patrol in the Town of Southeast, Deputy Sheriff Ronald Yeager observed a vehicle traveling south on the shoulder of Route 22.
After stopping the vehicle, Deputy Yeager determined the driver, 31-year-old Ryan C. Castle, of Pawling, NY was intoxicated. Mr. Castle was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and driving on the shoulder. Mr. Castle’s BAC was .12%
Mr. Castle was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court for a future court appearance.
On March 24, 2018, at approximately 2:20 a.m. while on patrol, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski observed a car on Main Street in the Village of Brewster without any lights on and crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Deputy Sadowski stopped the vehicle and determined the driver, Mary K. Villaverde, age 63 of Brookfield Connecticut was intoxicated. She was charged with driving while intoxicated. She had a BAC of .16%.
Ms. Villaverde is due to appear in the Village of Brewster Justice Court on a future date.
