Sheriff's Office Announces Arrest in Stolen Vehicle Case

Acting Sheriff Brian Hess announces the arrest of 38-year-old Jesus Eduardo Sanchez of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in connection with the theft of a 2025 Dodge Ram 3500 valued at over $80,000 from a local car dealership in The Town of Carmel.

On July 7, 2025, Deputies were dispatched to the dealership after staff discovered the vehicle missing. Using the vehicle's LoJack tracking system, Deputies and Investigators were able to quickly locate the stolen truck in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where it was recovered by the Bristol Township Police Department.

Following an extensive joint investigation, Sanchez was identified as the suspect. On September 3, 2025, he was arrested in Syracuse, New York by members of the New York State Police. Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office took custody of Sanchez in Syracuse and transported him back to Putnam County. He was ultimately charged with Grand Larceny 2nd, a class C Felony and was arraigned in the Town of Carmel. He was released on his own recognizance with an ankle monitoring device and directed to appear at a future court date.

Acting Sheriff Hess commended the diligent work of the Sheriff's Office Investigators and Deputies, and extended appreciation to the Bristol Township Police Department, the New York State Police, and the FBI Task Force for their assistance in the case.

"This case demonstrates the strength of interagency cooperation and the persistence of law enforcement professionals who worked tirelessly to recover stolen property and hold the responsible party accountable," said Acting Sheriff Hess.
