Sheriff Langley Reports Recent Drug and Gun Arrests


Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports that during the month of December 2020, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit made a total of eleven arrests.

The Street Crimes Unit, a division of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit, made four arrests for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th; three of these arrests were for the possession of heroin and one involved the unlawful possession of suboxone. The NEU executed six search warrants; resulting in seven arrests for a variety of narcotics sales and possession charges while also recovering five illegally possessed firearms. The investigations involved the sale of heroin in the Town of Carmel, the sale of cocaine and marihuana in the Town of Southeast, the sale of prescription medication in the Town of Patterson. A joint investigation was conducted with the Westchester County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration involving sales of Cocaine and an illegal Marijuana growing operation in the Town of Somers and Town of Kent. The NEU also investigated a subject who was selling marihuana and had an illegal indoor marihuana grow operation in the Village of Brewster.

As with many of these operations, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department continues to work closely with multiple agencies, such as the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, New York State Police, Westchester County Police Department, City of Peekskill Police Department, Town of Kent Police Department, Town of Carmel Police Department, City of Yonkers Police Department, Town of Yorktown Police Department, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office and other Federal, State and local police agencies to extend our cases throughout multiple jurisdictions. The combined efforts of all these agencies are making our communities safer for all our families.
