Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a 62-year-old Danbury man on DWI charges. On January 12, 2020, at approximately 12:48 a.m. Deputy Amanda S. Collier observed a pick-up truck cross over the double yellow line. At the time, the pick-up was traveling in a Northeasterly direction on Sodom Lane in the Town of Southeast headed towards the Deputy. The truck did then continue through a stop sign without stopping.
Deputy Collier initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle’s driver, 62-year-old Danbury resident Bruce W. Staszewski, was allegedly intoxicated. An open bottle of Vodka and a jar of alleged marijuana were recovered from the vehicle. Staszewski was arrested on the scene without incident and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated for having a Blood Alcohol Content in excess of .18, Driving While Intoxicated, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and other related charges. He was processed and booked at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and issued an appearance ticket for a future date in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
