Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville announces the promotion of two Sergeants to 1st Sergeant positions.
On Monday November 4, 2024, Sheriff McConville promoted Sergeants Peter Vigilio and Johnathon Cihanek to 1st Sergeants within the Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement operation.
Vigilio is a 16-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, having previously served as a corrections officer, road patrol deputy and narcotics investigator prior to his current assignment as a sergeant in the road patrol over the last three years. He also supervises the motorcycle unit. With his promotion, Vigilio will assist the captain with overseeing the Patrol Division.
Cihanek is a 14-year veteran who has been a sergeant for the last eight years with assignments in road patrol and as a supervisor in the Youth Aid Bureau overseeing the SRO program. He is an assistant commander of the Sheriff’s Response Team, which is a group of specially trained deputies and investigators that are called upon to assist during tactical operations. Cihanek will work for the undersheriff and will handle administrative functions such as grant writing, equipment procurement and the accreditation program.
Sheriff McConville wished both of them much success in their new assignments and is confident in their ability to lead and to continue to be an asset to the Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Putnam County.
