Sheriff Announces Implementation of "Takedown Tuesday"

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the implementation of a new program called “Takedown Tuesday”. Utilizing social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, Sheriff Smith is enlisting the help of the public in locating and apprehending people who are the subjects of arrest warrants or bench warrants throughout Putnam County.

Sheriff Smith constantly strives to develop new and creative ways to enhance the safety of the citizens of Putnam County. Recognizing that social media is an effective avenue for reaching many citizens, Sheriff Smith expects that the new program will be an effective method for bringing wanted criminals to justice.

“Takedown Tuesday” was first implemented on February 25, 2014. Every Tuesday, a new wanted subject will be posted on the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department official website, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The first “Takedown Tuesday” subject is Jocelyn Almonte, age 33, whose last known address is 139 Eden Drive, Danbury, Connecticut. Ms. Almonte is wanted for failure to appear in Putnam County Court on February 18, 2010 to answer two counts of a charge of Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Sheriff Smith encourages the public to join him in partnership to ensure the success of “Takedown Tuesday”.
