Scam Calls in Putnam

Sheriff Kevin J. McConville would like to advise all residents of a recent phone scam by someone pretending to be from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.  The caller has contacted residents pretending to be a “Sergeant Cook” from the Sheriff’s Office and telling them that they did not respond to a jury summons and that a warrant will be issued for their arrest unless they pay by gift card.  Law enforcement will never ask someone to pay by gift card.
