Recent Sheriff's Office Arrests

Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of a subject for a burglary of a residence in the Town of Philipstown.

On May 28, 2024, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Route 403 for a report of a burglary in the past. Upon arrival he spoke with a contractor who had been doing work on the property and noticed the illegal entry into the home. Investigators from the BCI and Crime Scene Unit were called in to assist in the investigation. Through forensic evidence collected at the scene and numerous leads that were followed-up on, a suspect was developed.

On November 18 investigators arrested Jason Pellerin, 37 years old of Wappingers Falls and charged him with Burglary in the 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd, Grand Larceny 3rd, and Criminal Possession Stolen Property 3rd, all felonies. He was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Thompson-Tinsley in the Town of Philipstown Court and was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.


On November 15, 2024, a deputy took a complaint in the Sheriff's Office lobby from an investigator for the Hudson Valley Credit Union about a fraudulent check that was cashed at the Mahopac branch for over $8,000.

A BCI Investigator began an investigation and was quickly able to develop a suspect based on surveillance footage and other evidence. On November 20, Xiomara Ortiz, 20 years of age of Walden, NY turned herself in and was arrested and charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree and Grand Larceny 3rd, both felonies. She was arraigned before Judge Miller in the Town of Carmel Court and was ROR to appear at a future court date.
