Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Putnam Valley man on a DWI charge.
On February 9, 2014 at 11:09 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Timothy Keith was dispatched by 911 to respond to a report of a one-vehicle personal injury automobile accident involving entrapment. Upon arrival, the deputy determined that the injured driver, identified as Richard M. Medina, 26, of 2 Harrimac Lane, Putnam Valley was intoxicated. Mr. Medina was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department and transported to Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, where he was admitted for emergency treatment. The deputy charged Mr. Medina with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and released him to hospital staff pending a February 20, 2014 appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
