Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of a Pennsylvania man for possessing a firearm illegally.
On June 25, 2025, at approximately 2:45 pm an astute investigator observed a male subject enter a gas station at the corner of Danbury Road and Starr Ridge Road in the Town of Southeast, with what appeared to be a firearm on his waist. He observed the subject while in the store, and when he re-entered his vehicle and drove away, a traffic stop was made. The suspect, 55-year-old Kevin J. Piava of Carbondale, PA, admitted to having the gun, a Walther pistol, and no pistol permit. He was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment. His vehicle, which had an expired registration, was towed from the scene.
