Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of an Ossining, NY, man on narcotics and DWI charges.
On May 28, 2025, at approximately 10:30 pm, a deputy on routine patrol came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Route 301 near Hortontown Road in the Town of Kent, and he stopped and spoke with the driver. The deputy quickly determined that the driver, 30-year-old Diego G. Estrada, appeared intoxicated, and he was taken into custody. Located inside the vehicle were two bags containing what appeared to be cocaine, along with an additional bag in his possession when he was booked into the Putnam County Correctional Facility. Estrada was charged with Criminal Possession of Narcotic Drugs in the third and fourth degree, both felonies, and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated and Promoting Prison Contraband, second degree. He was also charged with two infractions of Refusal to Take a Breath Test and Drinking Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle on a Highway.
Mr. Estrada was held overnight, arraigned the next morning in the Town of Kent Court, and released on his own recognizance. He was ordered to report to Putnam County Probation to be fitted with an electronic ankle monitor.
