Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of a Haledon, New Jersey, man after investigating a residential burglary in the Town of Philipstown.
On August 3, 2022, at approximately midnight, Deputies were sent to a residence on Route 9D for a burglary complaint, whereby the tenant at the residence came home and found that a sliding glass door was broken, and items were taken from inside. Deputies and Investigators began an investigation that included reviewing surveillance camera footage and collecting blood and fingerprint evidence. Based on the video footage that showed a suspect, a bulletin was sent out to law enforcement agencies for assistance in identifying the suspect. Investigators were contacted by the MTA Police, who had dealt with the same individual at the Garrison train station earlier that evening. Further investigation based on DNA evidence was gathered, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of 23-year-old Steven Moye.
On December 14, 2023, Investigators learned that Moye was to be in White Plains City Court on an unrelated matter; he was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned in the Town of Philipstown Court. He was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond until his next hearing date.
