May 9-15, 2021 is National Police Week. What is National Police Week?
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Today, Sheriff Langley held a BBQ for the members of the Department. In appreciation for all the hard work they do each and every day it is only fitting to do something special for them. He is proud of each and every member and the work that they do for the community keeping Putnam safe. We are grateful for their service and for the service of police agencies everywhere celebrating this week.
