Sadly #k9friday is early this week as we remember and thank K9 Duncan. In 2016, K9 Duncan retired from Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
She was 10-years-old and served at the Sheriff’s Department as a certified patrol, tracking and narcotics dog for eight years. During her career with the Sheriff’s Office, she was credited with over 300 narcotics arrests and solving over two dozen property related crimes. K9 Duncan is also credited with numerous tracks where she located criminals and missing persons, the most memorable being a two-year-old child who went missing in the Roaring Brook area of the Town of Putnam Valley. K9 Duncan tracked the child to a wooded area where Deputy Vincent Dalo heard the faint cry of a child who was then found behind a tree safe but scared.
K9 Duncan, we thank you for your service, keeping your handler safe and protecting our community.
