Honoring Veterans on Purple Heart Day

Today we remember and honor every Purple Heart recipient but, in particular, our very own Charlie Moore. In the first photo, he is receiving an award from the Putnam County Marine Corps League (photo courtesy of). The second photo, taken January 26, 1972, is in tribute to his days at the #PCSO when he worked at the Youth Aid Bureau. He is demonstrating “Stanley the Talking Bicycle.” Stanley was transported from one school to another and used to promote bicycle safety, way before helmets for bicyclist were even thought of. Prior to joining the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Moore served his Country with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, in Viet Nam, where he earned the Purple Heart. Thank you Deputy Moore for all your service and to all who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice. We salute and remember you. #purpleheart #thankaveteran
