Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of an individual for stealing a bicycle from a Philipstown resident.
On August 19, 2024, a deputy was dispatched to North Highlands Town Park for a larceny complaint. An interview with the juvenile victim and his father revealed that the juvenile rode his bicycle to the park to go fishing. At some point, the YT Jeffsy mountain bike, valued at approximately $2900, was taken by unknown person(s). Sheriff's Office investigators were brought in and quickly developed a possible suspect.
On August 20th, investigators interviewed 61-year-old Roy J. Bishop of Fishkill. Bishop admitted to stealing the bicycle and turned it over to them.
He was charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony, and issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Philipstown Court.
