Father and Son From Massachusetts Arrested on Drug Possession Charges

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a father and son, from Massachusetts, for drug possession.

On April 30, 2019, at approximately 4:15 pm, Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Interstate 684, in the Town of Southeast. Upon the deputies conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, they immediately detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed that the operator, Sumner Queen, age 28, of Cambridge Massachusetts, was in possession of a quantity of alleged marijuana, and his passenger, Isaac Queen, age 61, of Pocasset Massachusetts, was in possession of alleged cocaine and concentrated cannabis. Sumner Queen was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (Violation). Isaac Queen was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

Both men are scheduled for future court appearances in the Town of Southeast Justice Court, to answer the charges.

Sheriff Langley remarked how “this is another example of where the offense of possessing marijuana has led to the arrest of persons involved with possessing or selling other narcotics. In this instance, the operator did not appear impaired at the time of the traffic stop, but the potential was there for that to have changed rapidly as this vehicle traversed our highways during rush hour.”
