On May 31 at approximately 6:50 pm, deputies were dispatched to Route 22 just north of Sodom Rd. in the Town of Southeast for a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle. A preliminary investigation has determined that a vehicle being operated by 52-year-old Christine Bueti of Katonah was making a left turn out of a restaurant driveway to head southbound on Route 22 when it was struck by a northbound motorcycle, which was operated by 22-year-old Marvin Espanaventura. He was transported to Danbury Hospital in serious condition by Brewster Ambulance.
Ms. Bueti was arrested at the scene, charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and issued a ticket for Failing to Yield the Right of Way When Making a Left Turn. She was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Southeast Court at a future date.
Mr. Espanaventura was issued tickets for Operating a Motorcycle Without the Proper License, Operating Without Insurance, Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, and Operating Without Inspection Certificate.
Members of the Brewster Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing with Sheriff's personnel and the New York State Police Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit.
