Deputy Shane Rossiter Earns Third Straight DWI Award at New York State Event

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville is pleased to announce that Deputy Shane Rossiter was the recipient of an award presented at the 2025 New York State Law Enforcement Recognition Event, which was held recently in Albany. The event is sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving New York, STOP-DWI New York, & the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and serves as an opportunity to recognize and honor the great work of Law Enforcement professionals and their Law Enforcement agencies from New York who have shown outstanding dedication to DWI enforcement, prosecution, and education in 2024. Over 114 awards were distributed and over 335 individuals were in attendance to recognize and thank those who are working so hard to keep our streets safe from the horrors of drunk and impaired driving.

This is the third year that Deputy Rossiter has received this award, which recognizes his ongoing efforts to remove drunk and impaired drivers from the roadways of Putnam County. In 2024 Rossiter made 35 DWI arrests, which prevented an unknown number of individuals from becoming the victim of a motor vehicle accident with someone who chose to drink and then drive.
