Carmel Schools on 2-Hour Delay

At 5:55 AM this morning, Carmel High School Administration was notified of a possible, non-specific threat that was made by an individual in our school community. This threat was not directly related to Carmel High School or any district school, but was a statement made on a group chat on Discord, regarding a school threat.

This information was immediately shared with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office so that it could be investigated.

Out of an abundance of caution, Carmel CSD and Putnam County Sheriff's Office made the decision to place the Carmel Central School District Schools on a 2-Hour Delay.

At this time, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office has determined this threat as unsubstantiated. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has given Carmel Central School District clearance to open all schools. All Carmel Central School District Schools will operate on a 2-Hour Delay Schedule today, Friday, September 20th.

Today, there will be increased police presence at schools to ease any anxiety students may have about this concern.

We appreciate your understanding and patience, as we strive to make sure our schools and students are safe every day.

As always, we thank our students, staff, and families for their cooperation.
