Carmel Man Charged With Unlicensed Operation

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Carmel man on a charge of unlicensed operation.

On March 4, 2014 at 12:56 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Johnathan Cihanek stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Fair Street in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Richard Gonzalez, 41, of 1742 Route 6, Carmel held a suspended license. The deputy arrested Mr. Gonzalez and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the scene and released in his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
