Carmel Man Arrested for Felony DWI

On May 8, 2021, at approximately midnight, while on patrol in the Town of Carmel, Deputy Robert Weinberg observed a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner commit a traffic infraction on RT 6 in the area of RT6N. The driver pulled into the gas station at 621 RT 6 and Deputy Weinberg initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Salomon O. Aguirre, of Carmel. While interviewing Aguirre, Deputy Weinberg detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Aguirre’s breath. After an investigation, the Deputy determined Aguirre was driving while intoxicated and placed him under arrest without incident.

A criminal history search showed Aguirre to have a prior conviction for DWI on January 29, 2016 in the Town of Cortland Justice Court. Aguirre was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years and Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08 of 1% or more. Both charges were felonies due to Aguirre’s previous conviction.

Aguirre was given an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. Aguirre is due back in the Town of Carmel Justice Court on May 18, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in front of the honorable Judge Jacobellis.
