Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the investigation into an incident in the Carmel Central School District.
On February 8, 2024, at approximately 11:55 am, a single live round of ammunition was found in the grassy area near the playground at the George Fischer Middle School. A lockdown was put into place at the school while a search was conducted of the building and grounds. It was released approximately 45 minutes later, and the investigation into the incident is continuing. Sheriff's Office personnel were assisted at the scene by Kent and Carmel police departments.
