1975 Dodge Monaco
This week’s #throwbackthursday photo is for the car buffs. This 1975 Dodge Monaco was a “used car” when it came into the Sheriff’s Department fleet back in the mid 70’s. Back in the day, the Village of Brewster had its own police department. Not the one it has now, a different one. At one point, the department was disbanded in lieu of a contract for Sheriff’s Department coverage, 24/7. This car came with the deal. This was the old Brewster Four-Zero, it became Sheriff’s Unit #231. Have you ever seen a more ridiculous light rack? Recently, we teamed up with the @putnamsheriff department, providing one of our facilities for emergency response training. We’re proud to support first responders. A big thank you to those that serve for all that they do.

Thank you @nyseandg/twitter for the nice shout out and for providing your facility. It is much appreciated. #putnamsheriffny #putnamsafeputnamstrong #teamwork

K9 Char
When K9 Char is not out working in the field, he is relaxing with his friends in Communications. He has been known to answer a call or two… Happy #K9Friday long weekend everyone! #putnamsheriffny #putnamcountyny #policedog #workingdog #sheriffK9 #accelerantdetectionk9 #policedogsofinstagram
No, this is not a photo from Woodstock, 1969. In this week’s #throwbackthursday photo, we feature Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Investigators William Kraus (left) and Michael Martin (right). The Investigators are shown here eradicating marijuana as part of an investigation into an outdoor grow operation in the Town of Patterson in 1990. You can see in the photo that they are surrounded by marijuana plants. Speaking of the plants, are these guys short, or are these plants really tall? Bill Kraus was a member of the Narcotic Enforcement Unit for 26 years and is still serving proudly as an investigator in the B.C.I., with a total of 37 years with the Sheriff’s Department. As a matter of fact, Bill Kraus and Mike Martin were hired on the same day. Michael Martin was a member of the NEU for 10 years and an investigator for just as long. Mike Martin is still serving with the department as a Consultant. We are both fortunate and glad to still have both of these men as part of the team, as they are both an asset to the Department. Thank you for your continued service! #simplythebest #putnamsheriffny #putnamcountyny #putnamhistory

Cold Spring Sheriff's Town Hall

Some photos from last night’s first ever Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Town Hall. It was held at the Old VFW Hall in Cold Spring. Despite the challenging rainy weather, there was a great turn out! Topics addressed ranged from the opioid crisis, mental health, the department’s new drone, the K9s and school safety, just to name a few. The team was joined by Cold Spring Officer in Charge Larry Burke demonstrating the Department’s commitment to work along with the other agencies in the County. Have a question you would like the panel to discuss? Please join Sheriff Langley and his team on Thursday, October 18 in Carmel at the BES Auditorium for the next Town Hall! And a special shout out to Homestyle Desserts for sponsoring and providing everyone with the best cookies and pastries and coffee for the event. #pcso #putnamcountyny #putnamsafeputnamstrong #communitypolicing #coldspringpolicedepartment @old.vfw.hall @homestyle_desserts_bakery

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month Observed

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reminds citizens that once again in October we commemorate National Domestic Violence Awareness month [NDVAM]; a time for law enforcement agencies, victim assistance organizations and community leaders to work jointly in generating greater public awareness about domestic violence, prevention strategies and effective responses for victims. It serves as a reminder that communities must speak out in a unified voice to combat domestic and to challenge all people in America to support programs that can end this nationwide epidemic.
