Dutchess County Man Charged With Unlicensed Operation, Drug Charges
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the recent arrest of a Dutchess County man on traffic and drug charges during a traffic stop.
On September 6, 2013 at 11:45 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat initiated a traffic stop on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Christopher S. Broas, 35, of 7 Brookside Road, Glenham, New York held a suspended license. The deputy also determined that Mr. Broas was in possession of controlled substances. The deputy arrested Mr. Broas and charged him with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, misdemeanors. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $250.00 cash bail pending a September 30, 2013 appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charges.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
